Auditorium History

Dedicated on July 19, 1885, on the former site of the Speaker's Stand, the Round Lake Auditorium has been the center of life in this historic community.

The building was enlarged in 1888 to accommodate the Ferris Tracker Organ.  Built to resemble the facade of the Calvary Episcopal Church in N.Y.C., the organ was purchased and brought to Round Lake by freight car and canal boat.  The organ stands 34 feet high and is the oldest, largest three-manual organ in the United States.

During Methodist Camp Meetings, the auditorium was used for sermons and educational programs.  The Round Lake Auditorium continues to be the heart of the Village of Round Lake.  Today, the Summer Season hosts many events, including: Jazz, Silent Film, Nature Programs, The Children's Cultural Initiative, Organ Concerts, Theatre, Dinner and Strings, Shakespeare, community events and more.....(to be continued)
